Kip Bedell began making wine in 1985 in the old David's potato barn (built in 1919).
A small portion of the barn was used as the Winery and Tasting Room, with the remaining portion used for storage and tractor maintenance.
A new case storage wing was added in 1996 to the existing winery.
With the recent expansion and renovation of the winery in 2005, the Bedell winery now features a truly international array of state-of-the-art equipment:
Ours is a labor of love, teamwork and attention to detail. We take pride each day in our goal of perfecting the art of wine.

With the recent expansion and renovation of the winery in 2005, the Bedell winery now features a truly international array of state-of-the-art equipment:
- A GAI bottling line and Kosme labeler (Italian), with the ability to bottle and label 65 bottles per minute.
- A Pellenc Harvester (French), the first of its kind in the Northeastern USA, which picks the fruit gently yet exceedingly clean.
- Scharffenberger lift Gondolas (German), with hydraulic lifts, to facilitate transferring the freshly picked grapes gently from the Gondola into the tanks without pumping.
- South African fermentation vessels custom designed for our facility. They are temperature controlled allowing us the ability to either heat or chill the wine depending on our needs. They also feature removable lids, which allow us to load the fruit into the tank gently from the top.
- French oak barriques (60 gallon barrels) from select premium coopers
Ours is a labor of love, teamwork and attention to detail. We take pride each day in our goal of perfecting the art of wine.
